BASIC SCHEDULED MainTENANCE
Routine Maintenance use to be very cut and dry, but in today’s high tech world it is not that simple. The manufacturer changes their Maintenance requirement based on the advancement in their product. Your warranty manual has your specific recommended Maintenance schedule. Below is a generic Maintenance schedule which we follow at the Arrow Dealerships. This guide in conjunction with your warranty manual and driving habits allows our service teams to help you Maintain your vehicle in peak running condition.
EVERY 5,000 MILES
IN ADDITION, EVERY 15,000 MILES
- Inspect brake pads / shoes/ rotors/ drums, brake lines and hoses and parking brake system
- Inspect engine cooling system, hoses and clamps
- Inspect wheel end for play and noise
- Inspect steering linkage, ball joints, suspension and, if equipped, half shafts, driveshaft and U joints
- Replace cabin air filter, if equipped
- Trucks only: lubricate ball joints and steering linkage if equipped with Zerk fittings
- F 250/ 350/ 450/ 550 and Excursion only: inspect and lubricate 4x4 front axle shaft U joints.
IN ADDITION, EVERY 30,000 MILES
- Inspect complete exhaust system and heat shields
- Replace engine air filter
- Replace fuel filter
- Change automatic transmission/ transaxle fluid on all vehicles equipped with 4F50N, 4F27E and 4R100 (some vehicles require this service at 150,000 miles only under normal operating conditions. Consult your service advisor for recommendations about your specific vehicle.)
- Inspect automatic transmission/ transaxle fluid on all vehicles equipped with a dipstick.
- Replace climate controlled seat filters (if equipped)
- Change automatic transmission fluid and external filter on all vehicles equipped with TorqShift transmission
IN ADDITION, EVERY 60,000 MILES
- Change automatic transmission/ transaxle fluid and filter on all vehicles equipped with CVT
- Trucks only: Change manual transmission fluid
- Trucks only: lubricate 4x2 wheels bearings, replace grease seals and adjust bearings (at 60,000 miles only)
- Excursions only: lubricate 4x4 front hub needle bearings
IN ADDITION, EVERY 75,000 MILES
- Focus: check air filter restriction gauge, replace filter as required
IN ADDITION, EVERY 100,000 MILES
- Inspect accessory drive belts
- Replace spark plugs
- Replace PCV valve on all vehicles under 6,000 lbs gross vehicle weight (except 4.6L, 5.4L and 6.8L 3V engines)
- Replace yellow engine coolant
IN ADDITION, EVERY 120,000 MILES
- Replace PCV valve on all vehicles over 6,000 lbs gross vehicle weight (except 4.6L, 5.4L and 6.8L 3V engines)
- Trucks only: lubricate 4x2 wheel bearings (at 120,000 miles only except F 450/ 550)
IN ADDITION, EVERY 150,000 MILES
- Change automatic transmission/ transaxle fluid on all vehicles excluding those equipped with CVT
- Replace automatic transmission/ transaxle pan gasket and filter
- Replace yellow engine coolant
- Replace accessory drive belts
- Focus: check air filter restriction gauge, replace filter as required
- Trucks only: replace 4x2 wheel bearings and grease seals, lubricate and adjust bearings
- 4x4 only: replace transfer case fluid
- 4x4 only: replace front axle lubricant
- Inspect PCV valve for flow
- Change rear axle lubricant on all RWD
TOWING A TRAILER OR USING A CAMPER OR CAR TOP CARRIER
Every 3,000 miles or 3 months: replace engine oil and filter
Every 30,000 miles: Change automatic transmission/ transaxle fluid
Every 60,000 miles: 4x4 only: change transfer case fluid
As required: Change manual transmission fluid and Inspect and lubricate U joints
EXTENSIVE IDILING OR LOW SPEED DRIVING FOR LONG DISTANCES
Every 3,000 miles or 3 months: Replace engine oil and filter
Every 5,000 miles: Inspect Brake System
Every 15,000 miles: Replace fuel filter
Every 30,000 miles: Change automatic transmission /transaxle fluid; lubricate 4x2 wheel bearings, replace grease seals and adjust bearings
Every 60,000 miles: Replace spark plugs; 4x4 only: change transfer case fluid
As required: Replace cabin air filter.
OPERATING IN DUSTY CONDITIONS SUCH AS UNPAVED ROADS :
Every 3,000 miles or 3 months: Replace engine and oil filter
Every 15,000 miles: Replace fuel filter
Every 30,000 miles: Change automatic transmission /transaxle fluid
Every 60,000 miles: 4x4 only: change transfer case fluid
As required: Replace engine air filter, replace cabin air filter
OFF ROAD OPERATIONS
Every 30,000 miles: Change automatic transmission/transaxle fluid
Every 60,000 miles: Change transfer case fluid
As required: Replace cabin air filter; inspect and lubricate U joints; inspect and lubricate steering linkage ball joints if equipped with Zerk fittings.
